New for 2025-2026: Primary Computing PLN

The HLP is developing an innovative programme of collaborative working among computing teachers in primary schools. These networks provide an opportunity for sharing updates, discussion, and training in relation to current developments in effective teaching and learning in computing. Meetings will support teachers in schools to fulfil their role with greater confidence and satisfaction. The agenda focus will be steered by the group.
Joining this network is a wonderful way to get to know other teachers in Hillingdon and share ideas. It also gives participants the chance to request input on particular areas of interest or educational developments, which can be provided by inviting expert speakers to present at a subsequent meeting.
The sessions will be facilitated by Stewart Matthews. Stewart has been a Computing leader for over 10 years across multiple primary schools. He is also a Google Educator Level 1 and 2 accredited and a Lumio and Smart Ambassador Silver. Stewart has considerable experience working on digital learning projects across schools including social media, collaborative platforms and implementing devices across a range of subjects. He is currently working on improving the use of collaborative platforms to help improve learning and engagement in lessons.
Key Objectives:
  • To enable teachers to have a good understanding of key aspects of their role and how to work with partner agencies to ensure a rigorous approach to computing is offered to students
  • To explore and provide information and thinking around current issues and challenges, reflecting on the implications for school teachers and leaders
  • To provide models of effective and innovative practice in teaching computing in a school context
  • To provide updates on National Policy Development affecting schools
  • To develop a network of support across the partnership for computing teachers
